Very good organization, lacking in some important features.

Im a bit critical of my bags, especially when they are at this price point. So first let me state the positives:

The Pros:
This bag has so many storage compartments while maintaining a sleek minimalist look. The small pockets in the laptop compartment are perfect for a charging cable and a usb dock/hub, but a thicker charging brick wont fit very well. The back of the main comparment has so many small pockets for lesser used items (as they aren't as accessible), but the front of the main compartment has a really nice stretchy mesh that can fit bulkier power banks, charging bricks, or mice.

Unfortunately the 20L doesnt have a top "sunglasses" style pocket, but the front pocket is very useful for organization. The quick access pocket has sleeves for a wallet and a phone, and plenty of space for other items like tissues or a full sized headphone. On the sides, I really like how big the left side water bottle pocket can be, and the right side concealed pocket is great for smaller water bottles or <1ft long umbrellas.

Now the Cons:
These are some things that should be added to a V3. The laptop compartment only has a pocket for a single device. Most people (students like me) will carry around an iPad, so having a smaller sleeve for a 11" iPad would be great. Also make some more space for the laptop compartment to avoid putting too much pressure on the laptop when the bag is fully loading. Super tight compartments is what causes the keyboard to leave marks on the screens of many MacBooks that ultimately ruins the display's coating. The "anti-theft" ring that you thread the zipper through sounds nice in practice, but makes opening and closing the laptop compartment 10x more annoying.

Ditch the PU coating zippers, at least for the ballistic version of the backpack. They only cause issues in the long run. This bag has an umbrella pocket for a reason.

The water bottle pocket is big, but it's too loose for smaller bottles. My 26oz bottle isnt held tight enough to prevent it from sliding out when I swing my bag over to access the easy access pocket. You must use a 30+ oz bottle for security. Also please add a hook near the water bottle pocket for additional securing options.

The comfort of this bag is seriously hindered by the extremely stiff foam on the back. It doesnt protrude far enought to accomodate the spinal cord, and it doesnt compress at all. This also forces the back of the pack to be straight, which doesnt sit well against the curvature of the spine. Just a horrible wearing experience over longer periods of time. The shoulder straps are thick and of a decent width (2in), but the padding is also stiffer than most backpacks. Overall the wearing experience is really average, no better than what a $30 amazon bag can provide.

The front tech pocket (not the quick access) has so much potential, but the amount of stuff you can put in it is limited. We are given so many organization pockets, but the whole compartment is given very little space to expand. Just filling half of the pockets with cables and pens, plus my phone and airpods leads to the compartment being pretty tight to close.

And then the quick access pocket could use some upgrades. First, add an additional pocket for smaller items like airpods or a knife or a pen, but keep the medium and large pockets for the wallet and phone. Then, move the key holder from the front tech compartment to the quick access pocket. Lastly,I noticed that the tech compartment can eat some space from the quick access pocket, making it harder to access the wallet sized pocket. It would be great to add more separation between the two.

Although the branding is very minimalist and not obtrusive, it is literally everywhere. I counted 4 "Simpl Studios" on the outside, not including the branding on each of the 6 zippers. And then even more branding on each of the internal compartments. Like, we get it, you made this bag. Now let me enjoy a "simple design". Just a simple branding on the front and maybe one on the shoulder strap is enough. Ditch the ugly branding on the back panel foam.

Thats all, sorry if this review sounds harsh. All in all this is a wonderful bag and I think it's a keeper. But it could use improvements.

Bulky but nice

I took this backpack on a 2 week trip to Japan, and I was able to fit most of my carryon items in it, and it fit under my seat. It’s bulky, but everything is well protected. It has a ton of pockets, so many that I couldn’t remember in which pocket I put what item, so I had to keep searching, but with continuous use, I’ll start remembering where everything goes.

The water bottle pocket fits my 24oz insulated bottle and the inside water bottle zipper kept my umbrella and a pair of flats. The laptop compartment is nice and secure.

The straps are thick, but comfortable, and my back did not hurt hauling it around. It did make the back of my shirt ride up, so I had to adjust, but overall, I’m pleased with it.

Perfect bag for my commute

Some might say it has too many pockets, but I don’t. The bag has a place for everything and I just know where everything will be. As a woman, feels very comfortable to wear. If you love organisation, then I highly recommend this bag.
